LFUOSC stance on war: The following is an excerpt from the Forward of Cthulhu Sex Magazine, issue 14,volume II, by Michael Amorel ...their [LFUOSC] main concern is with the overwhelming consequences of war. Most of their members are serious opponents of such an act of hostility. Their reasoning is simple and backed by millenniums of experience in these matters. They site the First World War as the turning point of their previous philosophy into more conventional thought. Before the turn of the century, they were not opposed to war, as it was generally one small group of irate humans battling another small group. This offered LFUOSC a smorgasbord in times of need. But with the First World War, millions were killed in an extremely short amount of time, creating an overabundance of dead and leaving not much more than rotting vestiges of once potential lives. The advent of the atomic bomb is even more disturbing as it doesn’t even leave corpses that the Ls and some of the lesser U, Fs and OSCs can gain sustenance from. The use of chemical and biological weapons have unexpected reactions in many of the LFUOSC members. To the LFUOSC, the possibility of modern warfare not only spoils perfectly good produce, but it reduces the number of human sacrifices available. The machine of war is so unselective that many of the potential sacrifices rich in power are wiped out without anyone gaining the benefits of their passing. LFUOSC stresses that this side effect of war effects many other groups besides themselves. This includes us here at Cthulhu Sex. To sum up the viewpoint of the LFUOSC, as eloquently elucidated by the LFUOSC spokesperson known as Bella, “War is not only a waste of blood and meat; it is a waste of potential power. War culls the herd wantonly, limiting valuable human resources and causing everyone to tighten their belts.” One of the aspects of the LFUOSC, the Special Branch of Orphans and Widows, brought to my attention that none of the governments of any nation have contingency plans for the feeding and care of their people left behind in areas that would be most devastated. A group representing mummies pointed out that the focus on the Middle East will put many of their members at risk, particularly with their elevated susceptibility to fire. The only faction of the LFUOSC that openly looks forward to such mass destruction is a subset of specters, haunts and poltergeists, who anticipate the possibility of increasing their ranks. “It gets boring having the same conversations with the same faces over and over again,” said Mary, Queen of Scots. “I think that [war] is exactly what we need, fresh blood to raise our spirits.” |
