| The
beginnings of the LFUOSC:
The LFUOSC was first envisioned by Herman DeVille in 1968, after hiding in a movie theater in NYC. He had been chased into the theater by a roving band of fanatics, bent on the destruction of him and his kind. This not being such an unusual situation, he quickly let go of his anxiety of being found and tried to enjoy the movie. The fateful movie he had happened upon was the classic Dracula, one that he had never seen before. At first, he found it an entertaining diversion, as many people did at the time. But as the movie neared its horrific climax, he found himself wrapped up in what he saw as unwitting propaganda against some of his peers. He claimed that it was a combination of his disgust in the treatment of vampires and his reticence to return to the marauding mobs on the street that made him stay for the second feature. It turned out to be The Mummy, which again abused the image of his fellow creatures. Following that was The Wolfman, an even more farcical display of overzealous moralization. But within these three films was the spark of a great and novel idea: cooperation between the different races. Within a matter of days, he brought together the leaders of many of the local tribes, councils and affiliations. In a midnight meeting, he offered a treaty between them, a treaty of peaceful coexistence and mutual support. He encouraged them to work together to achieve their common goals, yet be tolerant of their differences. He suggested that, through working together, they could create a protective societal structure that would allow them to increase the quality of life for their members and deal decisive blows to those that would wish them harm. He painted a picture that would eventually grow into the beneficent LFUOSC. But, as in any idea before its time, there were many dissenting voices among the amassed leaders. Petty squabbles and personal interests ruled the day. No agreement was reached and no union was formed. Except, that is, against poor Herman himself. He was tied to the top of a ghetto building and left to burn in the light. And that would have been the end for Herman's ideas if it hadn't been for the Purges in the following year. Along with the dispersion of minority militant groups, a group of various zealous church vigilantes, known as UNITY, decided it was time to rid their cities of what they considered supernatural menaces. The first to be hit hard were the most organized group of the Fey. The Unseelie court was fought into hiding and the Seelie court took a hiatus from the mortal world. With the weakness to daylight, the various undead were easy targets, though their solitary lifestyles made them difficult to locate. Many of the great thinkers and philosophers of both groups were mercilessly sought and destroyed by UNITY. Out of this horror, one unorganized group came forward to unknowingly revitalize Herman DeVille's original ideology. A contingent of loosely associated lycanthropes sought out some of the more powerful vampires, wraiths and liches with an offer of protection. In return, they would receive the bounty of wisdom only those who have lived for millennia could bestow. Quickly, these lycanthropes were requested by many other supernatural entities, most notably the mummies. Dubbed The Paladins of Sacrifice, or Scriffies for short, they became a force to be reckoned with. The Unseelie court welcomed the Scriffies into their ranks as surrogate fey and turned the tide of battle against UNITY. In the midst of the bloodiest battle, the Battle of a Small Creek Outside Atlanta with No Name, the eldest Vampire of the council, Honorable Prince Baron Hakim Tsume Vlad IX, called a meeting of the leaders of the Unseelie court, General Ducan McNammara the Queen's emissary, and the lycanthropes, G'Hrrr. They made a pact of blood and magic to support each other to the bitter end. They christened their new coalition the LUF, lycanthropes, undead and fey in the order they came together. Their victory over the blind hatred that fueled UNITY, brought them notoriety and immense support. After the struggle of the Purges, greed and personal intrigues began to sap the young LUF. The ease of life in the late seventies brought a lazy lifestyle to many of the younger generations. The leaders that were so powerful in war were up against a foe they could neither see nor fight. The infant coalition seemed destined to failure and obscurity. The leaders of the LUF looked to their personal experience in the long history of politics for an answer. Deciding that the newest form, democracy, was best for the times, they put together a democratic council. Unlike the fumbling governments that utilized democracy, they decided to put certain mental, emotional and physical restrictions on the representative council in order to ensure just, wise and efficient rule. Realizing that peace was an entirely different battlefield, they all stepped down from power, despite the many voices pleading for them to stay. The new LUF council swung into action almost immediately. Using the wonderful marketing tools of the eighties, they reached out to their lost brethren. They encouraged individual members to personally reach out to those who weren't aware of the works of the LUF. Through this major push, the LUF grew exponentially, members finding new recruits in a wave of compassionate outreach. During this immense growth, many other individuals and groups that were not members of the founding groups of LUF were contacted. The stories of the support and safety of the LUF gave them hope for a better life. They petitioned to join the membership of the LUF and were welcomed with open arms. In 1994, the numbers of these unassociated individuals had grown so large, they were officially incorporated into the LUF under the title Other Supernatural Creatures. The official name of the organization became LFUOSC as LUFOSC was already a legal organization recognized by many national governments. The first act of the new LFUOSC was to attempt to get international recognition by various governments of the world. Filled with jubilance at their newfound success, they overconfidently approached as many governments as they could, sending powerful emissaries as diplomats. But, regardless of their popularization in the mass media, almost all of their diplomatic endeavors ended badly to say the least. Governments throughout the world sent military answers to their extended hand of friendship. Many lives were lost and many societies scattered. Currently, the LFUOSC is struggling to reorganize its members and reinstate order. The hard task is made even more difficult by the hindrance many governments have put in place. But the worst enemies are fear and isolation. Many widows and orphans of murdered LFUOSC members live in their ravaged homelands. Their day to day struggle to survive just one more night is filled with desperation and terror. They are persecuted and hunted. Their lives are hollow shells of the joy they once knew.
